SHARES Expert Seminar Report ‘Shared Responsibility in International Environmental Law’ (Amsterdam, 2011), published February 2012
This report summarizes the presentations and following discussions from the Expert Seminar on Shared Responsibility in International Environmental Law (IEL) held in Amsterdam in October 2011. The overall aim of this Expert Seminar was to map factual situations in which questions of shared responsibility have played a role in IEL, to take into account of the special features of IEL and to assess the relevance of findings related to shared responsibility in IEL for shared responsibility in other areas of international law.
The Seminar was part of an Expert Seminar Series launched by the SHARES Project to uncover the practice of shared responsibility in diverse areas. Previous seminars were held on responsibility in military operations and on refugees protection.
